Reference Desk
Librarians are available to assist users with research questions and use of library resources. The reference desk is staffed during open hours and library users are encouraged to ask for assistance whenever needed, so please disturb the librarian!

Copy & Print Services
The library has two copy machines available for photocopying.  Currently, photocopying is free.  You may print from computers located within the library.  Printing services are to be used only for college-related work needs. Using college printing services for non-college related files is a violation of state ethics laws and college policy.
 
Study Carrels
The library has 30 study carrels in the Silent Study Room, available on a first come-first serve basis. 
 
Group Study Rooms
There are 8 group study rooms in the Inver Hills Library which are available to currently enrolled Inver Hills Community College students. Seven rooms may be booked online or at the Circulation Desk. The primary purpose of these rooms is to provide a place for students to engage in collaborative and cooperative study in small groups. Permanent assignment of rooms is not made to any particular academic group or social organization. Please read the policies below before booking a room.   L111 is for viewing class films.  Students may study in that room but priority is for students required to watch films on Reserve.  If necessary, students studying will be asked to vacate the room for the film students. 

Group Study Rooms Use Policies:
  • Students must reserve a group study room either at the Circulation Desk or online.  A library barcode is required to "check-out" a room; please "check-in" the room when finished.
  • Study rooms are for groups of two or more.  Individuals should use the Silent Study Room.  At least two people must be in the room at all times.
  • Rooms may be scheduled for up to two hours at a time and may be reserved up to two weeks in advance.  If you leave the room early, please make sure you "check-in" at the Circulation Desk.  Room bookings are set at a maximum of 4 hours per week per patron.
  • If you have not reserved your room beyond your two-hour block, you must be prepared to vacate the room immediately at any point after your initial two hours.   
  • The group study rooms are very popular. Because of this, if someone is waiting for a room, your reservation will not be held for more than 15 minutes past the scheduled start time.
  • Drinks in covered containers are acceptable.  Please refrain from eating in these rooms.
  • Group study rooms are not completely soundproof.  Please be considerate of other library users.
  • The student checking out the study room is responsible for any damages.  Replacement fees will be assessed for any damaged equipment or furniture. Cases of deliberate vandalism or abuse will result in loss of checkout privileges and may be prosecuted. If a room is already damaged or inoperable when checked out, notify the Circulation Desk immediately.
  • The library is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal property.  Do not leave the room unattended.
  • Group study rooms are not available for functions such as committee meetings, classes, lectures, or seminars.
  • All rooms have whiteboard walls.  Please do not use your own markers, pens, or pencils on the walls.  Ask at the Circulation Desk for dry-erase markers.
